9/20/2023 0 Comments Kartrider drift iconThe standard way to play the game (although arguably the least active as well). This section will go over the various game modes that are based around speed mode (basically, those that utilize the nitro gauge system, among other things). This will be covered in much greater detail later on. When referring to lines, you will often hear of things like "taking the inner line" or "taking a better line", which means that the player took the turn more effectively (closer to the inner wall or edge) than another player.Ī method of determining a player's skill beyond the license categorizations. (Referring to races) The movement/trajectory of a racer as they go through a turn. When the draft activates, you will also see a red wheel icon light up on the dashboard/speedometer for the duration of the draft. The range for being within drafting distance is pretty lenient, and you will know you are in range if you see a red glow directly in front of your kart. The mechanic of driving directly behind another racer for a short period of time to get a speed boost which allows you catch up or pass them. It is important to establish a consistent build as you try to get better times, and work towards optimizing it. When people talk about "copying someone's build", they are referring to watching their replay and trying to follow their sets of drifts and nitros. This is essentially the sets of drifts and nitros that someone will try to consistently perform for each individual track. (Referring to tracks) A general way that a player decides to run a track. Specific drifting terminology will be covered later. Most of these are more intermediate concepts (as in after you have acquired your L1 license), but I will sometimes be using the terms prior to that. Some terminology that you may see throughout the post moving forward, which you may also see other players talking about. So as an example, if there are four players on the team, they will have to fill approximately eight bars worth of nitro among each other (any nitro bar overflow will still feed into the team nitro bar). The team nitro bar is filled by filling up approximately two times the number of players on the team's worth of nitro bar. Note that there is an approximately one second transformation delay, during which you are unable to use the nitro make sure to factor this into your racing, as being "nitro locked" at inopportune times can really hamper your performance if you don't expect it. There is a team nitro bar which, when filled, transforms all standard nitros of the team into blue nitros. Therefore, the winning points combinations are as follows (X denotes any position):Ī team will also win if one of their members gets first place and retires everyone else this gives a SUPER CARRY bonus of 8 points, meaning that even if the opposing team finishes in 2nd through 5th place (23 points), the team with the member in 1st place will have 24 points.Īn additional, but extremely important mechanic in team mode is the inclusion of team nitros these are blue versions of the standard nitro which are slightly faster, and last approximately 1.5x the duration. The total of all points adds up to 39, so essentially whichever team reaches 20 or more points (with one exception) is the winner of that match. This is based on an accumulation of points from each player based on the following mapping: Placement In Team Speed mode, two teams of equal players (up to 4v4) will versus each other, with the winner being determined by whichever team gets the most points. Speed mode is split into two primary categories, Solo and Team. Whoever drifts the most effectively and keeps up the most speed will generally win the race. ![]() In speed mode, the fundamental mechanic for KartRider is the concept of drifting to fill up your nitro gauge (I will use "bar" and "gauge" interchangeably here), which once filled and the drift completed, converts it into a nitro item which provides a momentary boost in speed. ![]() (Reddit doesn't have the ability to link to header sections, so this will just serve as a regular table of contents) ![]() I've largely written about item mode for two seasons, so why not have a deeper look into speed mode now? I'm only like, 18 months late.įeel free to skip around to parts that may be relevant to you, since I'm going to be covering a lot of basic stuff in the beginning that most players probably know already (plus the post itself is going to be very, VERY long.like seriously I have to split this into three separate posts due to character limitations). This post is continued in Part 2/3 - Pre and Post-L1 and Part 3/3 - Tiers System.
