9/21/2023 0 Comments Nicks billiards chicago![]() I used to come here all the time when ditching hs and shooting pool for hours on end. And not the charming hole in the wall you stumble upon once in a while kinda place. What is with the other 2 reviews? This place is a hole. If your looking for a nice place to shoot some pool. My experience at nicks was very enjoyable. I had to order more wings… LOL…But with everything being said. ![]() Which gave this place a very hangout neighborhood vibe. While I was ordering I had a chance to get to know some of the regulars that hang out there and they were cracking jokes and friendly. So I checked the menu and ordered the chicken wings and cheese fries. I WAS LIKE «Wait, What? This place is BYOB. But what made my night was when I notice some tables had buckets of beer. There was music playing that gave this place a cool atmosphere. The crowd at nicks is very diverse and It was a good sign to see everyone enjoying themselves and laughing. I could not help but notice how new everything looked and how clean this place was. The owner was friendly and we talked for a bit afterwards. I asked the owner if it was like this all time and he said most of the time. So I walk into this place on a saturday night and it was packed. With the new renovations and new pool tables. Even though I have been here before and it was cool back then. It’s Friday today and I already know where I’m going after work. I wouldn’t want to go to a pool hall and have to use an awful cue that’s more beat up than the streets of Chicago are. Last Weekend I noticed that the owner had replaced some of the house cues with new Dufferin ones which is always good. Food menu is small, but everything was Hand Picked by the owner and I will say it’s all good. No jukebox, but there is always music on and it’s not so loud that you have to yell to say something. This place is BYOB and there’s a 7⁄ 11 just behind it so you can walk over and get more beer if you didn’t bring enough (I do that a lot.) This is an awesome place to meet OR make friends and get some solid billiards in. I live in Wicker Park so there are plenty of tables around, but none of them are anywhere near as nice as these ones… Especially the 9ft. ![]() Hot Tip: If the Nickburger is too much, they also offer the “Little Nick.” This old-school spot remains cash-only and open for dine-in and carry-out.I might as well be one of the regulars. Nick’s is family owned with Don Quaid buying the establishment from its original owners a little over 20 years ago. You’ll find a menu full of Chicago hot dogs, Italian beef, and grilled cheese. Their signature juicy 1lb burger is made with fresh, locally-sourced beef ground fresh every day.
